Angler of the MonthFishing ScholarshipsHigh School FishingLandon Kelty, Bass IQ March 2019 Angler of the Month

April 1, 2019

“Every time I open the app, I see a post or comment from Landon.  He’s really an active leader in the app”, says University of Kentucky Bass Fishing Coach Tommy Hall.  That sentiment is echoed by the other college coaches who use the app as well.

The Bass IQ March Angler of the Month is Landon Kelty, a high school junior from Versailles, KY.  Landon attends Woodford County High School, and is coached by David Graves.  Landon has been part of the fishing team since his freshman year.

As with most high school tournament anglers, Landon has been fishing as long as he can remember.  He enjoys fishing a local team trail with his dad that keeps him busy every other weekend during the season.  He knows this experience is valuable as he prepares to become an angler at the collegiate level when he graduates high school next year.   Landon has an interest in pursuing a degree in marketing and/or business in college, and he’s getting a good head start by taking “every marketing class offered” in high school.

Landon also actively fishes the KBN, BASS and FLW high school opens, and he qualified for the BASS High School National Championship by placing 18th in the Bradley Roy High School Open Tournament last Sept.

The Spro Little John MD crankbait in the Spring Craw pattern is Landon’s go-to bait this time of year.  He likes to cover some serious water with a medium diver in search of the winning bite, or a catch that would beat his PB of 6 lbs.

Landon’s parents are AJ and Kasi Kelty.  He is quick to thank them for supporting his high school fishing, and includes thanks to his team sponsors:  Amsoil, Semones Heating & Air Conditioning , and More Than A Bakery.

As Angler of the Month, Landon wins a $500 college fishing scholarship, a personalized padfolio, and a chance to be named the 2019 Bass IQ Coaches’ Choice Angler of the Year, awarded in May.
